How dare there not be adequate nourishment For those of you who do not know yet our Stig has been appearing on the motoring show ‘Top Gear’ and his best friend got into a bit of trouble recently.Ĭheck out all the other fabulous experiment tracks based on Stig's secret chord code. When asked to do this I couldn’t resist writing a track about the Stig’s best friend. We’re using it for a strictly non-commercial purpose.

We took the version from Euronews, you find it here. We follow none of these intentions, our intention is just to raise awareness of the insane things happening these times in many placed of the earth. We’re aware that often footage like this is published with a political intention. The video from Aleppo is available on multiple sources. Both of us were alone but we made some music together overcoming thousands of kilometers, different languages and cultures, expressing a common view on the world. So, it was like a live session but not played at the same time. We started with Kai creating some powerful live music on the keys (mainly using analog synthesizers and sequencers) and then I added the guitar, also playing live. Then the idea of a virtual jam session came up with music that expresses the loneliness, the sadness but also with a glimpse of hope and humanity. Two years ago we did the ‘Throw Me Away‘ project ( ) which addressed a similar topic, so we had a common understanding. We both felt this loneliness and desperation of the people there. It all started when Kai saw a video of a drone flying over the destroyed city of Aleppo and discussed this with me. IFriend said, in a voice as smooth as honeyĮcho of Humanity - A time-asynchronous jam session between Kaiboard (Germany) and John Wegner (Australia). IFriend wants to change the terms of trade John Wegner: Guitar, Synths, Bass, VocalsĪ Prog track about the awesome brilliant new device - iFriend! Sleezy bass line and vocals mixed with an occasional techno beat and attitude - explores the dark side of the web. I also ran the drums through Izotope RX to get rid of clipping, which had annoyed me.

Some parts of the Internet are a big worry. Thanks to everyone involved and especially to my musical brother Kai! The voices of Jack (my father in law) and Pauline (Kai’s daughter) are the little extras that add spice and diversity to the track. We have been impressed by his vocals for a long time and were excited to have his versatile and colorful voice to add a new dimension to this song. Next, we asked Mauricio and fortunately he joined the project as well. He did this with aplomb in his usual precise and creative style. When the song had a little bit more structure we asked Paul to play the drums on what had evolved into a complex track. We had many ideas and many were discarded. There was the arab spring, the bizarre way of how politicians (mis)use twitter and the exponential growth of self marketing on all social media. It only seems like yesterday that we talked about a project on how social media was changing and shaping society. It’s amazing how long this took to finish, over two years. Rise above the Noise, a collaboration with Kaiboard (composition, keyboards, music production), Paul Wegner (drums, percussion), Mauricio Garay (vocals, vocal ideas) and myself (composition, lyrics, guitar, bass, video production).
